Baron's Cove
Harborside boutique hotel with a heated pool, walkable to Sag Harbor's Main Street and the North Ferry to Shelter Island.
Baron's Cove overlooks Sag Harbor's marina with 67 rooms across a low-rise compound. The pool deck, dining room and most rooms face the water; Main Street, Le Bilboquet and the North Ferry terminal to Shelter Island are all a short walk away — making it one of the most logical South Fork bases for a North Fork wine day via the ferries. The bar is a popular pre-dinner stop with locals as well as guests, and rates ease noticeably in shoulder season (October and May) compared to peak summer.

Ownership and sister properties
Baron's Cove is operated by Cape Resorts, the same group behind Congress Hall and Beach Plum Farm in Cape May, NJ and The Pridwin Hotel and Cottages on Shelter Island — Baron's Cove is listed as Cape Resorts' Eastern Long Island property. 1
On-site amenities
Cape Resorts lists a spa division across its properties (the Sea Spa at Congress Hall and the Pridwin Spa); Baron's Cove itself is marketed for its harborside pool deck and dining room rather than a dedicated spa. The group also runs a retail shop, gift cards, and offers seasonal packages across its East Coast properties. 1
Booking
Reservations run through the shared Cape Resorts booking engine (also used for the group's Cape May hotels), reachable at 855-290-8467. The public site does not post a fixed nightly rate table — rates are date- and occupancy-dependent through the booking flow, so no pricing block is included here.
History
Baron's Cove traces to 1958, when it opened on Memorial Day weekend as the Sag Harbor Motel and Inn, founded by Tom and Arthur Baron as the first resort development in Sag Harbor. Past guests included John and Elaine Steinbeck, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, and a circle of regional artists and writers who gathered at the restaurant and hotel, among them Jackson Pollock, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Truman Capote, George Plimpton and Kurt Vonnegut. Cape Resorts purchased the property in 2013 and reopened it in 2015 after a roughly 24-month, top-to-bottom renovation that kept the original name and footprint. 1 2
Rooms and amenities
The renovated property has 67 village- and harbor-facing rooms and suites. On-site amenities include a harborside heated saltwater pool, a tennis court, a fitness studio, spa services, and complimentary beach service with transportation. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a second-floor dining room and terrace overlooking Sag Harbor Cove. 1 3
