Hotel Moraine

Small downtown Greenport boutique with a walkable location near the LIRR terminus and the harbor.

Hotel Moraine is a recently renovated 17-room boutique on Main Road, a five-minute walk from Mitchell Park, the carousel, and the Shelter Island ferry. Rooms are compact and design-forward; the location is the real draw — you can leave the car parked all weekend and hop a winery shuttle or rideshare for tastings. We've sent visiting family here three times because it delivers 80% of the Sound View experience at roughly half the price. Rooms are small — pack light — but the beds are excellent and the bathrooms feel almost new. My tip: request a room on the back side of the building; the Main Road rooms catch traffic noise until about 10pm. Continental breakfast is coffee-and-pastry level, not a full spread — walk two blocks to Little Creek Oysters or Aldo's if you want a real morning meal before heading west to Bedell and Macari.

Property positioning

Hotel Moraine markets itself as a family resort — "a luxury family resort on the North Fork of Long Island" — rather than the couples-only boutique framing some other Greenport properties use, and its site groups content under Hotel, Gatherings, Meetings + Events and Weddings, indicating a broader events and group-booking business alongside overnight rooms.

On-site sections

The website lists dedicated Rooms, Space + Amenities, and Resort Policies pages, plus a Press section, suggesting a full-service operation with more public-facing group and event infrastructure than a small boutique inn.

Getting around

The address, 62005 Main Road, sits on Greenport's main commercial strip, keeping the carousel, Mitchell Park, and the Shelter Island ferry within easy walking distance, consistent with its downtown-adjacent positioning.

Rooms and amenities

Hotel Moraine's room categories are distinguished by size and view: the 295-square-foot Terrace King and 345-square-foot Premium King (both sleeping two), the 350-square-foot Luxury King with a gas fireplace, and the 421-square-foot Premium Double Queen and Accessible King, which sleep up to four. Every room has a water view, a Lavazza coffee machine, Bellino linens, Aesop bath products and a stocked mini bar, and select rooms add a soaking tub or gas fireplace. The hotel is certified by the Surfrider Foundation as an Ocean Friendly Hotel.

Pool, beach and cancellation terms

The property runs a heated outdoor pool open 9am–7pm from Memorial Day through October, a private beach with complimentary chairs, towels, umbrellas and paddleboards, a fitness center with a sauna, and complimentary bikes for the roughly two-mile ride into Greenport village. Continental breakfast is complimentary each morning, and check-in runs 4–10pm with check-out at 11am. Cancelling 14 or more days before arrival gets a full refund; cancelling between 3 and 14 days out forfeits the 50% deposit, and cancelling within three days forfeits the full cost of the stay including taxes and fees. Pets are welcome only in designated rooms for a $45-per-night fee, arranged at booking.
