Silver Sands has been run by the same family for generations, with beachfront rooms, standalone cottages and a private bay beach on Pipes Cove. A laid-back, family-friendly alternative to the polished boutiques, with kayaks and paddleboards on the sand and easy access to Greenport restaurants, Claudio's and the Shelter Island ferry. A 2024 renovation changed the property
Silver Sands has been rebuilt from the classic family motel into a design-led property under owner and creative director Alexander Perros, working with Leroy Street Studio Architects and landscape architects Edmund Hollander and Melissa Reavis over a 14-month renovation. 1 Its current address is 1400 Silvermere Road, Greenport, on Pipes Cove. 2
Grounds and setting
The property now spans 45 acres between Peconic Bay and an 18-acre protected marsh, with 1,400 feet of private shoreline and an offshore working oyster farm. It includes a spa (the Salt Marsh Wellness Sanctuary) and three on-site restaurants. 3
