The Pridwin
Restored 1927 waterfront resort on Shelter Island with a private beach, multiple restaurants and a full spa.
The Pridwin reopened in 2023 after a top-to-bottom restoration with 49 rooms and cottages on Crescent Beach. Multiple restaurants (Salt is the headline dining room), a saltwater pool, full spa and private beach — the most polished stay on Shelter Island, perfectly positioned between the North and South Forks via the two ferries. A natural base for splitting a weekend between Wölffer Estate to the south and Sparkling Pointe / Kontokosta to the north; the island itself slows the pace down between tasting days.

History
The Pridwin was built in 1927 and is described on its operator's site, Cape Resorts, as the last of the grand historic resorts that once defined summers on Shelter Island. It sits on ten waterfront acres along Crescent Beach and Peconic Bay. In 2022 the property completed a two-year renovation led by Cape Resorts and the Petry family, intended to preserve its historic character while updating comfort and amenities.
Rooms and cottages
Cape Resorts' site lists 33 guest rooms and 16 cottages at the Pridwin. Guest room types include Hillside Rooms (forest view) and Waterview, Corner Preferred and Terrace Rooms (full water view), with standard rooms running about 215–230 square feet and furnished with a king bed, in-room safe, Nespresso machine, beverage chiller and widescreen HDTV. Cottages range from private studio-style units such as Birch, Hickory and Larch Cottage up to two-bedroom houses like Fraser and White Oak Cottage, several with kitchenettes, living rooms and private outdoor decks.
