Rosé releases start, a new hotel opens in Greenport, and the pre-Memorial-Day plan

Rosé releases are hitting now, a new small hotel opened in Greenport, and how to structure the last quiet weekend before Memorial Day madness.

Rosé releases are here

Rosé release week is quietly the best week of the year to visit the North Fork. Every producer wants you to taste the new vintage, tasting rooms aren't yet slammed, and staff have time to talk. Wölffer Summer in a Bottle, Croteaux 314 rosé, and the new Kontokosta rosé are the three I'd taste this week.

New in Greenport

A small new inn opened on Front Street in Greenport with eight rooms, a shared kitchen, and — importantly — bikes for guests. It's the kind of walkable, no-car-needed base for the trail that Greenport has been missing since the Menhaden's rooms all get booked six months out.

The pre-Memorial-Day plan

If you can move a trip up a weekend, do it. Saturday: two tasting rooms + a proper lunch + Greenport in the late afternoon. Sunday: one final tasting room, an early lunch, and home before Sunday-night beach traffic. This is the last quiet weekend before Memorial Day changes the trail for the summer.
