LI Wine Guide
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what longislandwineguide.com collects, why, who else is involved, and how to opt out or ask for your data to be deleted.
Who we are
LI Wine Guide ("we", "us") operates longislandwineguide.com, an editorial guide to Long Island wine country. Privacy questions and data requests go to privacy@longislandwineguide.com.
What we collect
- Newsletter data. If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide, the categories you select, and the confirmation and unsubscribe status of that address. Subscriptions use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm from a link in a verification email.
- Analytics data. Aggregated pageview, referrer, approximate location, device and browser data, used to understand which pages readers find useful.
- Outbound click data. When you click a booking, reservation or retail link, we record the click — timestamp, destination, an anonymous session identifier and any campaign parameters — so the merchant can attribute the referral.
- Messages you send us. Corrections, listing updates and reader questions, along with any contact details you include.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21. This site is intended for visitors of legal drinking age.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our partners use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for three purposes: making the site work (session and preference storage, including your cookie choices), measuring audience (analytics), and attributing referrals and advertising. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and where a consent banner is shown you can decline non-essential cookies there.
Advertising, including Google
This site may display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads on this site based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies and device identifiers for ad selection, delivery, measurement and fraud prevention. You can:
- Opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings and read Google's practices at Google's advertising privacy page.
- Opt out of many third-party vendors at once at aboutads.info and youradchoices.ca or via the Network Advertising Initiative.
- Use your browser's own controls to block third-party cookies entirely.
We do not control the cookies set by ad networks, analytics providers, affiliate networks or booking platforms. Their own privacy policies govern that data.
Third parties we work with
Analytics and advertising providers (including Google), email delivery and newsletter infrastructure, hosting and database infrastructure, and affiliate and booking networks used for hotel, tour, restaurant and retail links. Each receives only the data needed for its function.
How long we keep data
Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, and unsubscribe status is retained afterwards so we do not email you again. Analytics and click data are retained in aggregate. Messages are kept as long as needed to handle the matter and maintain a corrections record.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA — you may request access to, correction of, export of or deletion of personal data we hold, object to processing, withdraw consent, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell it). Every newsletter email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. To make a request, email privacy@longislandwineguide.com; we will respond within the period the applicable law requires.
Security and changes
We use reasonable technical measures to protect the limited data we hold, but no internet service can promise absolute security. If this policy changes materially, we will update the date below and, where required, notify subscribers.
