A Lure Chowder House & Oysteria

Located at the landmark Port of Egypt Marina, A Lure is a Tom Schaudel / Adam Lovett waterfront seafood restaurant on Southold's Main Road. The kitchen focuses on what the East End does best — chowders, oysters, lobster rolls — with a relaxed dining room and a pleasant outdoor patio overlooking the marina. A logical lunch or dinner stop between Greenport and the western wineries.

Who's behind it
A Lure is a joint venture between chef Tom Schaudel and restaurateur Adam Lovett, the team also behind aMano in Mattituck, Passionfish in Westhampton Beach and Jedediah Hawkins Inn in Jamesport; chef de cuisine and partner Jeff Uguil runs the kitchen day to day. 1 The restaurant opened in 2011 in the former Seafood Barge space at Port of Egypt Marina, which had operated there for roughly 15 years before closing in 2009. 2
The building and setting
The dining room removed a curtain that had divided the old Seafood Barge space, opening it into one bright room with blue walls, wood floors and large bay windows over the marina and Peconic Bay. Outdoor seating includes a 100-seat wraparound deck and an adjoining bar lounge deck, plus a double-sided fireplace inside for cooler months. 2 3
Current hours
Per the restaurant's own site, current hours are Thursday 5–8:30pm, Friday 5–9pm, Saturday 12–9pm and Sunday 12–8pm — no lunch service Thursday or Friday, and closed Monday through Wednesday. 1
Wine list and setting
The kitchen has historically kept a Long Island-only wine list alongside beers from Blue Point, Greenport and Southampton breweries, matching the restaurant's local-sourcing approach to seafood and produce. 3
