Nick & Toni's
Hamptons Italian institution with a wood-fired oven, garden-driven menu and the most-photographed celebrity-spotting dining room on the East End.
Open since 1988, Nick & Toni's is the original Hamptons celebrity restaurant. The menu is Italian and Mediterranean — wood-fired whole fish, the famous Wednesday-night roast chicken, much of it from the on-site garden — and the wine list is deep across Italy and Long Island. Reservations open 30 days out and disappear immediately on weekends; off-season Tuesdays through Thursdays are the realistic window. Worth the ritual at least once on any South Fork wine weekend.

History and setting
The restaurant opened in East Hampton in 1988 and describes itself as a Tuscan farmhouse-style dining room built around a wood-burning oven, a feature that still anchors the kitchen today 1. Its own site credits the mix of that setting, an outsider art collection on the walls and an extensive drink program for keeping the dining rooms lively night after night, decades after opening 1.
