Clovis Point Vineyard & Winery
Clovis Point Vineyard and Winery crafts small lot artisanal wines in an environment that is rich with charm.
The tasting room at Clovis Point offers a comfortable backdrop for engaging with friends and knowledgeable staff, featuring sweeping pastoral views of neatly organized vine rows and bucolic cornfields. The unique terroir of its specific location in Jamesport, with flat, southward-reaching eight acres near the Peconic Bay, allows warm, salty breezes to provide an extended ripening period. This delicate microclimate contributes to the creation of complex and expressive wines.

History
Clovis Point's founding partners purchased 10 acres of Jamesport farmland, including an existing barn, in 2001 with the goal of building a small, top-flight vineyard and winery. The tasting room today is that original barn — a renovated potato barn — set on the same Main Road acreage now under vine. 1
Hours and seating
The winery is open daily, 11am–6pm Monday through Friday, and 11am–6pm on Saturday and Sunday with two separate seating sessions (11am–3pm and 3:30pm–6pm) on weekends. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the tasting room at 631-722-4222. 1
Winemaking approach
Clovis Point's own description of its wines emphasizes blending: rather than bottling single-varietal Merlot or Chardonnay in the conventional style, the winery says it actively combines lots with complementary qualities to build wines with more character and balance. 1
Estate vines and awards
The estate vineyard on the winery's own 10 acres is planted with merlot and cabernet franc clones, which the winery says it hopes will form the backbone of its signature red wines while it also sources fruit from other North Fork vineyards for its broader lineup. Clovis Point's site notes it was the only Long Island winery to have two double-gold winners at the 2019 New York Wine Classic, for its 2017 Petit Verdot and its 2015 Vintners Select Merlot, which also won Best of Category and Best of Class. 2
Wine club and private events
Clovis Point runs a wine club that gives members access to first-release and limited-supply wines at discounted prices along with invitations to member events. The property is also set up for private functions, with a renovated tasting room, a smaller VIP room for intimate tastings, a covered patio overlooking the vineyard, and a vineyard lawn that the winery says can accommodate gatherings from 25 up to 250 people. 2
